1993 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Montevideo Linked to Tomatoes
An outbreak of Salmonella Montevideo resulted from the consumption of fresh tomatoes. The tomatoes were traced to a South Carolina packer. Tomatoes from this packing house were linked to a Salmonella Javiana outbreak in 1990. Outbreak associated cases were reported from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Missouri.
