2002 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Newport Linked to Tomatoes
An outbreak of Salmonella Newport was linked to the consumption of tomatoes that had been harvested from the eastern shore of Virginia. In 2005, tomatoes from this same vicinity, involving the same strain of Salmonella Newport, would again be implicated in an outbreak.
