2011 Outbreak of Campylobacter jejuni Infections Linked to Tucker Adkins Dairy Raw Milk, South Carolina
On July 18, the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) warned consumers to avoid drinking raw milk from Tucker Adkins Dairy, located in York, South Carolina due to contamination with Campylobacter. Ten cases from three different households consumed raw milk from the dairy on June 14, 2011. Although retail sale of raw milk was legal in South Carolina, it was illegal to distribute raw milk in final package form for direct human consumption in interstate commerce. Retail sale of raw milk for human consumption was illegal in North Carolina.
