2009 Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 at Llay Fish Bar, Wales

Llay Fish Bar was associated with an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, United Kingdom. The restaurant was known for its fish and chips, however other food items were available for sale. The cause of the outbreak has not been given, but upon inspection the restaurant was found to have poor food handling. The restaurant owner, Ramazan Aslan, was jailed and prohibited from running a food business. The E. coli was phage type 2 and verotoxin type 2 positive.
