An outbreak of hepatitis A infections was first declared in October, 2010, due to an increased number of cases, particularly in the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Since September 2011, most cases have been in the Alberni Valley of Vancouver Island, but other communities have also had cases. Most of the cases were from the local First Nations population. About 10,000 vaccinations have been given in response to the outbreak.
