Public health officials closed shellfish harvesting in certain areas of Oyster Bay, New York due to reports of Vibrio Parahaemolyticus infections in 8 individuals residing in 4 states. Three Nassau County residents became ill after eating raw or partially cooked shellfish harvested near the Town of Oyster Bay. An additional 5 illnesses were reported to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation by three other states that received shellfish harvested in Oyster Bay Harbor.
