1993 Outbreak of Clostridium perfringens Linked to Corned Beef, Virginia
A confirmed outbreak of Clostridium perfringens infections occurred among people who had eaten a traditional corned beef dinner in Virginia. Corned beef was the only food item statistically associated with illness. Clostridium perfringens was isolated from leftover corned beef and ill persons.
