2007 Outbreak of Norovirus Linked to West Karako Bay Oysters, Tennessee
Six patrons of a Chattanooga, Tennessee, restaurant became ill after eating oysters. A oyster shucker also became ill. Norovirus was isolated from the oysters. The oyster growing area was temporarily closed beginning December 21. The original shipper of the oysters was Prestige Oyster Company of Theriot, Louisiana. They shipped the oysters to Bon Secour Fisheries in Bon Secour, Alabama. They, in turn, shipped the oysters to the restaurant.
